It's the Jim Bohannon Picture Page!

Finally! A guest as tall as Jimbo! (Sure makes the photographer's job easier!) This is, of course, Chris Matthews, host/ringmaster of MSNBC's Hardball and author of the book "Life's a Campaign."

Well, a fine kettle of fish this was! Here we have the great Alan Alda in the studio, and the host is away! Actually, Jim hosted the show from America in the Morning affiliate WORD in Greenville, SC (thanks, folks!). So, we put Alan in the host chair. (And no, that exclamation point over his head isn't a sudden idea that came to his mind, it's just one of the more random wall hangings in our not-exactly-palacial studio!)

If you haven't seen "The War," the latest PBS documentary epic from Ken Burns, you owe it to yourself to do so. While the first-run of the documentary has ended, check your local listings for replays, and check your video store for the DVD release (that's Jim with Ken Burns on the right and co-producer and director Lynn Novick in the center holding up the DVD package).

Here's a fine pair of "steins"! No, not the quaffing type, but two big-name guests who vistited with us. Above is Jim with esteemed journalist Carl Bernstein, who joined us to talk about his book on Hillary Clinton entitled "A Woman in Charge," and below is Jim with sportswriter John Feinstein, he of frequent appearances on ESPN, from the night he came by to talk about his latest book on golf, "Tales From Q School."

.

Jim had a lot of fun recently visiting Galesburg, IL. Not only did he address the Illinois News Broadcasters get-together, he got to spend a few minutes on the air with affiliate WGIL, Radio 14, at one of Galesburg's hot spots, Innkeeper's Coffee. Above are two shots of Jim with WGIL's morning personality, Terry Cavanaugh; below left is Jim and Terry again, flanked by Johan Ewalt (far left) and Mike Bond (far right) of Innkeeper's Coffee. Notice the prominently displayed package of coffee. Wherever you find radio people, you're going to find coffee...lots of coffee. Finally, in the shot below right is an example of what happens when you take a radio personality's microphone away from him--he's forced to go from table to table to chat!

.

.

On the left is a familiar face, but you heard him on The Jim Bohannon Show in an unfamiliar setting: as a country music star! Bob is writing songs--and performing some of them, too!--with the band Honky Tonk Confidential, two of whose members, Mike Woods and Diana Quinn, you see there on the right. (We tried to get Bob in the photo with Diana and Mike but as soon as the microphones were turned off Bob dashed downstairs to his office--one floor below our studio--and wasn't seen again that night!)

We had a lot of fun recently when Mike Farrell, best known for his role on M*A*S*H, and his beautiful wife Shelly Fabares from Coach dropped by to chat about his book "Just Call Me Mike." As you can see, Jim somehow missed the 'please dress all in black' memo!

On a recent visit to our affiliate 1150 AM, WSNW (the voice of Seneca, SC!), Jim got the opportunty to cross the hall to their sister station, 96.3 FM, WGOG (the Golden Corner's home for Westwood One's CMT/Country Countdown USA) and co-host the morning show for a while. A dangerous choice, but fun was had by all. Here's Jim with WGOG morning man Wayne Morton. (Sorry about the contrast of this photo--we forgot to ask Wayne to turn his shirt down before the picture was taken!)

.

Jim spent some time in Los Angeles, hob-nobbing with broadcast royalty (and a serf or two, not shown here) at the Radio & Records Talk Radio confab. Above on the left is Jim with Bruce DuMont of the Museum of Broadcast Communications and the Radio Hall of Fame (not to mention his own excellent show, Beyond the Beltway). On the right is Jim with newly-minted Westwood One talk host Dennis Miller, whom we know you enjoyed when he both guested with and guest hosted for Jim in the weeks leading up to the start of his own show. Below on the left is Jim with the legendary Stan Freberg (and if you don't know who he is, 1) you should be ashamed, and 2) you must read this slightly-outdated, though still excellent, bio). Also in the shot is Jim's now-signed copy of Stan's masterwork comedy recording, "Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America." On the right is Jim, the LP, Stan, and Stan's lovely wife Hunter.

We always learn a ton whenever we have the great Suze Orman over to chat. Her new book, "Women & Money" isn't just for the distaff set--you guys can benefit as well!

It's becoming an annual tradition: Jim visiting with the newly-crowned Miss America. Here he is with the 2007 tiara-holder, Miss Lauren Nelson.

Why do we need to get women and minority youngsters more interested in science, technology, engineering, and math? So the country can benefit from people like Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space. (And she looked great in Starfleet Red when she did that guest shot on Star Trek: The Next Generation!)

Ever see a beauty sandwich? Here's a perfect example--flanking Janet Langhart Cohen are her husband William Cohen (L) and Jimbo, along with a copy of their terrific book "Love in Black and White."

Now here's a pair of intelligent and upstanding Americans--Jim Bohannon and famed satirist Mark Russell!

"You da man!" "No, you da man!" Well, we're not going to argue--they're BOTH Da Man! Here's Jimbo along with the sweet sax player from Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band, Alto Reed! (Check out Alto's solo music, which we heard portions of when Alto was with us, at www.altoreed.com!) Alto enjoyed himself so much he couldn't tear himself away--after the show ended he stayed for another 90 minutes just talking to the cast and crew!

We start the year off, as always, with our favorite photo composition: Jim, book, guest. So, here's Jim (L), "On the Wealth of Nations" (C), and author, satirist, and all-around fun guy P.J. O'Rourke (R). Look carefully at P.J.'s tie: it features images of Adam Smith! (Now that's dedication to a book!)
