IT'S THE JIM BOHANNON SHOW!
America's Premier Late Night Radio Talk Program
Current page : Home      Shameless Plugs
No money changes hands, but these are things we're involved with, interested in, or just plain like. Welcome to our Shameless Plugs!

From Paul the producer: This is for our terrific Jim Bohannon Show and America in the Morning radio stations. Here are the 2008 Sunshine Week PSAs from the Radio-Television News Directors Association. There are two of them, in .mp3 format; just click on the links here, and here. NOTE: They're not just for use during Sunshine Week; they should be good to go year-round. (As in the past, the PSAs were produced with funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.)

From the staff: We like to believe we have the best audience in talk radio. (Go ahead, pat yourselves on the back!) But let's face it--even with the number of hours Jim spends on the air, he can't be on all the time. Listen To America LogoIf you have a   burning issue on your mind and you just can't wait until Jim's back on, you've now got a place to go to get it off your chest and open a dialog with the rest of America. Where? www.ListenToAmerica.com. You can weigh in on topics already under discussion or start a new one on your own. You can even upload video comments! And, if you prefer all of your interfacing to be of the telephonic variety, you can do that, too, by leaving a voicemail, 24/7, at 1-888-LTA-2009. So visit there, and then get back to us the next time we're on!

From Paul the producer: Lookee here! Our old friend Marty Davis, the Chickaboomer, has just done an interview with Jim that you're going to want to read--especially since the title of it is Chickaboomer Does Jim Bohannon!

From Jim the host: Here's an effort we can all get behind: visit www.MemorialBracelets.com.

From Jim the host: No matter which side of the political aisle you're on, I think you're really going to enjoy this! (And watch those feathers fly!)

From Jim the host: You heard her on the show, now go visit www.Chickaboomer.com! (Or head directly to Marty Davis' snarky blog, right here.)

From Jim the host: Here's a great idea for every veteran of all of our nation's conflicts! Make sure everyone knows you're proud of your service to America while properly identifying yourself to everyone of your status as a veteran. To find out more, visit www.vetsignia.org.

From the staff: When we had sax-man extraordinaire Alto Reed on, his website was having server problems. Good news--it's up and running! Visit www.altoreed.com to learn more about this dynamic performer, and to purchase his music. Visit his BurnLounge: download the songs you want absolutely legally, and at great prices, too!

From the staff: Please indulge us in a quick chat with the great radio stations that air The Jim Bohannon Show and America in the Morning. You heard our show with 'Sir' Edward Jagen and 'Lady' Sophia Key West of the Good Knight Child Empowerment Network and Mothers Against Predators. If you'd like to involve your station and your community with these programs, 'Sir' Edward and 'Lady' Key are eager to help you with interviews, public service announcements, and more. Just contact them online at www.GoodKnight.org or on the phone at 1-301-595-8989 and tell them you heard about them here.

From Jim the host: If you heard our show with R. Lee Ermey (of film and TV fame), you know he's involved in an effort to help financially-troubled military families. You can help by visiting www.UnmetNeeds.com.

From Paul the producer: We know we have plenty of listeners who are Federal employees. Did you know there's a radio station that's been designed just for you? It's Federal News Radio and it's operated by Bonneville. If you live in the immediate Washington, DC, area, you can hear it on AM 1050 (and that's where you can hear America in the Morning every weekday at 5:06 am). For everyone else, you can listen online at FederalNewsRadio.com. If you're a Fed, the information you'll hear (and see on their website) will be invaluable. Give them a try!

From Jim the host: You've heard us talk to guest Debbie Williams of the Polly Pollatos Fund every now and then, and that group is doing some mighty fine work. Please give them a look when you consider your charitable donations. You can visit their website, www.ppfinc.org, to find out more.

From Jim the host: We regularly present programs on that American dirty secret known as domestic violence. The best way to fight it is to get involved. Here are a couple of websites you can visit: the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, at www.mkacf.org, and the National Network to End Domestic Violence, at www.nnedv.org. If you are in need of help yourself, or know someone who is, don't wait: call the National Sexual Violence Resource Center at 1-877-739-3895, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (-7233).

From Jim the host: I spoke about this some time ago, and maybe you saw it in Parade magazine. There's a drive on to collect old cell phones that will be sold for recycling, with the cash used to buy calling cards for our troops serving overseas. Learn more by visiting www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.

From Jim the host: Here's a fine idea from a great organization. The Walter Reed Society, a non-profit service group dedicated to helping wounded soldiers and their families at the Army's famous Walter Reed Medical Center, is selling t-shirts to help fund their efforts. You can see the design online, and buy a couple or three, by visiting www.OurNationsHeroes.com. Tell 'em I sent you!

From Paul the producer: Y'know, not just anyone gets a 'day' in their honor. But, our intrepid host is one of those select few. It happened in 2004, and here's the proof! (Warning: This opens a Microsoft WORD document!)

From Paul the producer: There's a great website for those of us who have met the half-century mark and are determined to keep enjoying life for years to come. It's Dr. Dorree Lynn's FiftyAndFurthermore.com. Check it out, especially the interview Jim did when they named him one of their 'Sages in the Spotlight'!

From Jim the host: You'll be seeing me occasionally on a new cable/satellite television service called BlueHighways TV. They've just recently gone 24/7, so now the time to call your cable or satellite provider and get them on board!

From the staff: Need a speaker for your next business or professional gathering? Jim is listed with this fine group, the Du Plain International Speakers Bureau.

From the staff: When the question of taxes comes up on the program, our go-to guest is Dick Jones of Wood-Jones and Associates in Rolla, MO. If you have need of such expertise, you can reach Mr. Jones by calling 877-IRS-AWAY (877-477-2929) or by visiting his website, www.taxfixit.com.

From John the guest booker: One of the ways talk shows get guests is by working with public relations firms. One of the ones we have a good working relationship with is Strauss Radio Strategies, Inc. Their online newsletter published a nice profile of Jim; you can read it here.

From Paul the producer: When Jim did an "Offbeat" on bubble wrap, we used sound effects of popping from the Perpetual Bubblewrap web page. Go there--you'll have minute after minute of mindless fun!
